About Neumonics

Founded in 2000, Neumonics began with a clear mission: to develop a middle-ware solution that seamlessly integrated legacy systems like AS400s with modern XML-based e-commerce platforms. The company quickly made a name for itself by creating one of the most comprehensive and reliable screen-scraping tools, offering the most effective means of connecting to these legacy environments.

Shortly after the release of its initial BabelPart screen-scraping products, IBM launched a set of Java APIs designed to connect with their legacy platforms. Neumonics stood out as the only software company in the automotive space to successfully certify on IBM’s “Chiphopper” program. This certification validated the functionality of the BabelPartSDK across a range of IBM systems, from OS 360 mainframes to AS400s, and even RS6000 Unix machines.

Over the next decade, Neumonics experienced steady growth without seeking private equity investment. Its product portfolio expanded to include plugins for NexPart Sparklink, Activant (Epicor) AConneX, the AAIA’s IPO specification, and numerous other protocols, including the in-house developed BabelPartXML. No longer focused exclusively on IBM legacy solutions, Neumonics extended connectivity to systems such as JD Edwards, SAP, and many regional warehouse distribution platforms.

In 2012, Neumonics made a pivotal decision to expand beyond middle-ware. As warehouse distributors began leveraging B2B partnerships to boost sales, they faced challenges in managing shipments and communicating tracking information to their partners. In response, Neumonics launched the BabelPart Order Manager, enabling distributors to seamlessly manage shipments through FedEx, UPS, USPS, and other regional carriers, all while remaining tightly integrated with their distribution management systems. Together with BabelPartSDK, OrderManager provided an efficient solution for tracking and invoicing across e-commerce partners and internal systems.

Soon after, Neumonics introduced the BabelPart ASYNC suite—a series of SaaS solutions capable of handling communications with both legacy protocols from the 1970s and the latest REST APIs. This included lesser-known protocols like TRANSNET and EDI, as well as modern platforms like Amazon and eBay. Neumonics also launched the BabelPart Parts Portal, providing partners and customers with tools to visualize order history, replace outdated “green screen” order entry, and bridge new integrations into the BabelPartSDK.

Five years later, Neumonics continued its growth by introducing a suite of infrastructure solutions. As the customer base expanded, it became clear that each organization faced unique challenges in application validation, availability, and performance monitoring. Neumonics addressed these challenges through infrastructure products designed to optimize resource usage. Throttle Proxy, for example, could detect incoming XML request types and throttle them based on criteria like request type and account number. The URL Load Balancer, another industry-first, allowed traffic distribution across the same server through multiple URLs—a crucial feature for supporting multi-port legacy applications.

Today, Neumonics remains dedicated to enhancing the BabelPartSDK with new e-commerce plugins and system connectors, driven by a growing customer base. This continued growth fuels the development of innovative asynchronous communication, infrastructure, and marketplace tools.

We are profoundly grateful to our customers and partners for making a vision that started over two decades ago a reality.
